“We purchased a building that would serve 2 purposes, a shop for our manufacturing business and the opportunity to turn the top level into a home for our son. The building was built in 1957 so we had lots of questions. Working with Whitestone Developments and Andrew was such a positive experience. MEGAN & JOE
Megan and Joe are so passionate about sustainable, energy efficient living that the goal for their home was to get to, or as close to Net Zero as possible.
The lot was specifically chosen and custom house design created to fully maximize the southern exposure for the use of solar panels.
They knew they wanted to cause less stress on the local water supply and would need water security for their extensive gardens.
It was extremely important to the home owners to have as little waste as possible, and to find ways to use what they had on the land to increase their sustainability.
What we (and the home owners) wanted to achieve with this project, was to incorporate as many elements as we could to benefit their homesteading lifestyle.

While efficient building looks at how a home will lessen impact on the world, “Build Smart” looks at efficient building and how the people within those homes will be affected.
